Sedation Dentistry

Despite the depth of your particular needs, Bahr Dental has set up our services to be as minimally painful as possible. The core way we can do this is through our sedation dentistry catalog. Dental sedation are tools Dr. Bahr and Segura can use to eliminate pain during the procedure and work on your care efficiently.

Many patients rely on the help of sedation dentistry to push them toward performing dental work. Call our Davis County dentist to learn more about how sedation dentistry can help you!

Sedation Dentistry Can Be Life Changing

Anyone who feels like they need dental sedation can use it. However, patients in these circumstances tend to be the ideal candidates for this service:

Dental Anxiety

Dental anxiety can be caused by either a negative experience with a past dentist or nerves from healthcare in general. Dental sedation makes patients feel a bit drowsy, drowsing out any negative thoughts as the procedure takes place.

Developmental Concerns

Adolescents or those who have a hard time staying still may find the dentistโ€™s office to feel a bit daunting. Dental sedatives and the help of our highly trained dentists help patients of all circumstances receive the oral care that they need.

Gag Reflex

Some patients may find that the back of their throat feels a bit sensitive as dental work is being completed. Dental sedation eases all of your muscles, helping you feel at ease, and lets the dentist reach the entire area of your mouth.

Tooth Sensitivity

Oral conscious sedation, among other methods, provides a quick way to help patients eliminate discomfort as the procedure takes place. These tools give our dentists a delicate way to treat tooth sensitivity.

Sedation Options at Bahr Dental

Dr. Bahr and Segura provide three different dental sedatives to choose from during the treatment process. Each method yields the same calming results, but they are each administered differently. Here is how to tell the difference between each method.

Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas, is administered through a gas mask that pumps medicinal chemicals till your body feels at ease. This material kicks in after only a few minutes and wears off quickly, allowing patients to get on their way quickly.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered through a pill that helps patients feel comfortable about 30 minutes after it is taken. This form of dental sedation helps patients feel a bit more aware while the procedure takes place.

IV Sedation

Intravenous sedation (IV) is the deepest form of sedation available at our office. We will place the solution near your veins which will likely cause you to fall asleep as the procedure is taking place. This type of dental sedation is suggested for more extensive dental procedures or for those with a more intense fear of dental work.
